Åre

Åre /
Sweden

Introduction

Åre in Sweden has been synonymous with alpine skiing for a very long time, but the bike park here is somewhat less known. Over the years they have built a criss-cross of trails on Mount Åreskutan, completely designed for alpine mountain biking. Åre Bike Park offers a trail network of over 30 marked trails with about 40 km of downhill trails over a vertical of almost 900 meters. Uplifts are achieved via the Kabinbanan (cable car), the Hummelliften chairlift, and the funicular Bergbanan, providing easy ascent from midsummer until the end of September. They have an active bike patrol which work daily in the park promoting safety and developing new trails while the bike school helps new riders getting started and skilled bikers finding their way around the park.

At the lift base there are various local bike rentals offering DH and freeride bikes to rent. Åre is an active place during the summer. Most of the restaurants, hotels and shops are open all year round and the number of visitors finding their way here also during the summer is steadily growing. They are well on track towards for their vision of becoming one of Europe’s most attractive all-year-round destinations.
