Hafjell Bike Park Summer Camp

For several years in a row now, the Rock My Trail team have organised the Hafjell Bike Park Summer Camp. And it is always exciting for us to come to Norway. Not just because of the stunning nature, beautiful girls or the midnight sun Norway has to offer. It’s really because of the amazing trails you will find at the Hafjell Bike Park. They are surely one of a kind in Europe, especially the famous Rollercoaster Trail with it´s jumps pumped up with steroids where you practically spend more time in the air than on the ground!

So we took it one step further to give more mountain bike enthusiasts from Germany, the rest of Europe, and anywhere else in the World (if you want to make the trip!), the chance to join us at Hafjell for an awesome Summer Camp! For 2014, the camp runs from the 11th July through to the 21st July, costs €790 and includes:

  • Accommodation in modern norwegian holiday cabins
  • 8 day lift ticket
  • transfers from cologne (Germany) to Hafjell and back again
  • Riding tuition

The Accommodation

Our summer camp accommodation is in modern Norwegian holiday cabins with 12 beds (100m2) or 18 beds (155m2) which have a few extras you will most definitely enjoy. The cabins are located very close to the bike park so when you step out of the door you are almost at the gondola and can be ready for the first laps of the day in only minutes.

And after an amazing day on the trails you just cruise back down to the cabin and enjoy the evening sun with a cold beer and BBQ. I know, sounds epic. And the extras include:

  • Sauna
  • Washing machine and dryer
  • Dish washer
  • A huge flat screen TV
  • Wifi access
  • And a wood-burning fire place

Guiding and Lessons

During the whole Summer Camp, we will be offering riding lessons for those looking to focus on any aspect of their riding and progress - cornering, jumping, whips, or line choice, we’ll all work to make you a better rider by the end of the trip.

Hafjell Bike Park

The Hafjell Bike Park has experienced a rapid rise over recent years and their growing reputation has resulted in their selection to host the 2014 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in September. It has 25 km of trails accessed by a gondola and a chair lift and an elevation drop of 750 meters. There are two different kinds of trails; machine-built ones which are wide, with jumps and flowing berms, and the single-track trails which use the natural Scandinavian terrain with a lot of rocks, roots and the slightly sandy ground to challenge you.

The 14 different trails ranging from beginner standard through to expert only. The quantity and quality is outstanding so you can easily justify a long stay and always find new variations in the trails. There’s a bike shop and rental shop with 120 Scott Gambler 20 bikes available, located at the bottom of the bike park, just in case something brakes and you need some qualified help.

Hafjell and the Region

Hafjell is located in the little village of Øyer in the beautiful Gubrandsdalen region, a 2½ hour drive north from Oslo and 15 minutes drive from Lillehammer - scene of the 1994 Winter Olympics. The whole region is well known for it´s outdoor activities. If you have time to spare off the bike then you can go rafting, take a ride in a bobsleigh on wheels, do a moose safari on ATV´s or go paint balling in Lillehammer. The village of Øyer itself has everything you will need during your stay. There are a few restaurants and grocery stores in town, and it’s all just a few minutes away from the bike park.
