Introduction

Relatively new on the bike park scene, Wiriehorn Bike Park is laying some impressive foundations. They have a brand-new 6-person chair lift, only built in 2007, and have already embraced the bike park scene in the summer. But so far this is on a smaller scale than other established bike parks – there are only a few marked trails in the park.

There really is only the 1 DH trail here, but it's a cracker and was used for a stage of the iXS Swiss DH Cup in 2011. Before the 2013 iXS European Cup the DH trail was renovated completely and riders now say that it's "flawless" with better flow in the berms. And now ther's an automated camera in front of the finish jump - with the photos going straight to the Wirihorn Facebook page - fun to watch after your run. There are awesome bike wash facilities installed at the bottom of the lifts thanks to the guys at Hot-trail, and there's a great pump track to finish your day on.

There are a number of new trails in the pipeline as well as a larger XC network planned by the Diemtigtal Tourist Board so the area is definitely set up for growth. Latest news is that they are working together with Kandersteg to build a new flow trail and will offer a season card for both areas. And if you buy a ticket for a day at one location you'll get a 10% discount on the other location within the following 7 days. With easy road access due to the location right on the edge of the Alps there is some real potential here. Wiriehorn is going in the right direction!
