Mist and Mud

Mist and mud banner

Our man in the field Ben went out earlier this week for a rain-drenched shred. Here's what he had to say in between cleaning his glasses for the millionth time.

Whistler has been wet and muddy the last few weeks. We have been getting 1 day of sun for every 5 days of rain. But the biking has been great, lots of mud and lots of action on the hill in preparation for July and August.

Going up, looking a little foggy.

The big news this week is that the Garbanzo chair is open for business! This year Garbanzo opened a full 2 weeks ahead of schedule, mostly due to a lower snow pack and some very warm early season weather. There are still a few trails that are closed, but Blue Velvet, Bear Cub, Freight Train, Duffman, Angry Pirate, and No Joke are open and ready for action. There are a few other sections of trails open but not in full, so keep a sharp eye out.

Even foggier now. Anyone else getting the Silent Hill vibe?

In other big news the park is open until 8pm! I’m so happy to get out of work and still be able to fit in a few laps.

*Cue the horror music*

I love the Garbanzo zone, winter and summer. In the winter it a gem with almost no lift lines, a ton of super-fast shredding and tight treed lines to ski. Summer it’s the same thing: short lines, long runs and a very different atmosphere than the lower part of the mountain. There is a great variety of trails and you feel like you are in the ‘backcountry.’ Get up there and ride it, you will see exactly what I mean.

The Boneyard is coming along nicely, and the grass should grow well given the weather. Shout-outs to the crew at Joyride Bike Parks for another sick build.

I usually get a ton of comments about how bright my One Industries jersey is. I also got a pair of One Industries Sector Short with the chamois liner. Granted it feels a little like you have a load in your pants when you are walking around but one ride and I was completely convinced by it. Now I won’t ride without, it is so comfy.

And of course a huge shout-out to our sponsor One Industries, for keeping us stylish even on wet days.
