Day 27: Tim is back in Bellwald

URT Day 27 Bellwald

Day 27: It’s professional photo’s once again. A late flight meant that we crashed in Luzern again for the night, but we were up and out first thing to get back to Bellwald for a good day of riding. Again we were lucky with the weather; no rain despite it threatening to do so all day. So we got good few pictures taken and of course they are back to the high quality shots now that Tim has returned, armed with yet another flash to try and compete with the bright light conditions up in the mountains. The 2 Bellwald DH tracks have some great features, with jumps and drops throughout. A round of the iXS Swiss DH Cup has been held here 5 times now and so the course must be quality to keep justifying return visits.

Dan has had the lurgie for a week and the rest of us are starting to get a bit worried about catching it. So I got out of his way for the evening and went for a beer with locals Romeo and Sylvain who run Viro Products. We talked about the difficulties of developing bike parks in Switzerland, getting new trails approved and providing the kind of facilities that are becoming much more quickly established else where. But these things take time and it is definitely on the right track here, with more trails planned higher up the mountain to take advantage of the new 4-person chairlift that can take you up from where the current DH trails start at the moment. So there is much more height available to play with. Go and see those guys if you are in town, underneath the Raiffeisen Bank. It’s a great place to hangout and work on the bikes, and they can show you some cool videos of the previous iXS events held here.

Next we’re moving on to the 4th country and 9th bike park of the URT. Livigno in Italy… it’s a BIG one!
