Day 28: Motoring to Mottolino

URT Day 28 Mottolino

Thursday morning and the clouds had closed in on Bellwald, bringing visibility down to about 20 metres. But after 3 good weather days we couldn’t complain, and besides we were leaving anyway. Big thanks to Pamela, Martin, Romeo, Holgar and Stephan at Bellwald. It’s a picture perfect Swiss village on a stunning alpine hillside with some amazing biking on offer – plenty more than just the DH trails, and all right on top of the Aletsch Glacier UNESCO World Heritage site. Make sure you go there once in your life!

So we packed up and set off on what turned out to be a bit of a mammoth drive over practically every road pass in the Alps. This included the famous Furka pass (this time we went over it rather than under it on the train) so we stopped for Tim to take a picture. He complained about lighting problems again so he had Dan run up the left ridge-line and I ran up the right one so we could hold flashes. If you look really closely you should be able to make us out – honest!

It was then on to Italy, and an established name in the world of bike parks – Livigno Mottolino. It’s the 4th country and 9th bike park of the URT and we are pretty damn excited to be riding here. Just got up to beautiful weather and about to hit the trails.
