Introduction

In the Bitter Root Mountains of Idaho's northern panhandle, Silver Mountain Bike Park holds the distinction of having the world's longest gondola ride (3 miles long) and providiing mountain bike riders with 3,400ft of vertical descent. Idaho is known as the "Gem State", and Silver Mountain Bike Park sparkles with 30+ miles of singletrack, downhill, and freeride excitement. It's actually possible to enjoy 7 miles of continuous downhill!

Silver Mountain Resort & Bike Park lies within the city of Kellogg, ID whick is right off of Interstate-90, providing ease of access to/from larger metro areas like Coeur d' Alene, ID (35 miles to the west) and Spokane, WA (75 miles to the west). Silver Mountain is a full service resort property with an indoor waterpark, golfing, fishing, ATV, etc...including many accommodation and restaurant options.

The Bike Park provides largely intermediate-to-advanced trails and terrain features. The trail crew have been gradually adding jumps, drops, step-ups, tabletops, berms, wall-ride, ladders, and they even have a road gap! Mountain bike riders that have ridden at Silver MT., generally describe the bike park as having great potential to succeed due to its size and vertical descent. However, they also frequently comment that Silver Mountain needs more trails and rider traffic to reach their full potential and prosper as a bike park.

Silver Mountain is open in the summer (weather permitting) Fri.(2-8pm), Sat.(9:30-5pm), & Sun.(9:30-4pm). Excelsior Cycle shop in Kellogg has DH mountain bikes for rent (208-786-3751) and Silver Mtn Sports (208-783-1517), located near the base of the gondola, is a retail shop that also has full-face helmets and protective gear for rent.
