Introduction

Pull out your fat bike! Spirit mountain has fat biking during the winter!!

Spirit Mountain Bike Park in Duluth, Minnesota officially opened in 2013 for lift-accessed mountain biking. With magnificent views of Lake Superior from the slopes, and its close proximity to the city of Duluth, the bike park at Spirit Mountain offers ease of accessibility and a variety of amenities. This is the 1st lift-assisted gravity-fueled bike park in the upper mid-west! Their new "Spirit Express II" chair lift quickly transports mtb riders back to the top for more runs.

At the moment, Spirit Mountain has 4 trails in their line-up with plans for more. So far, they have a good variety of features on their trails that include: Table tops, hip jumps, large berms, rock gardens, small gaps, and drops. Downhill, Freeride, Flow, and Tech-singletrack are all well represented styles of riding at the bike park.

  • Candyland - 1.5 mile beginner/intermediate DH/Flow trail with berms, table top jumps and hip jumps that are all rollable.
  • Smorgasbord - 1mile intermediate level FR/DH trail featuring large berms, bigger jumps, drops, and rock gardens. Several 3-4 foot gap jumps and one 5-foot drop are mandatory on this trail.
  • Happy Camper - Beginner DH with small jumps, berms and rollers.
  • Blaster - Advanced DH/Singletrack trail with steep pitches, rocks, and roots.

Projected soft-opening date in 2014: Memorial Day weekend (weather dependent).
