Introduction

Steamboat's mountain bike network has gained an internationally known reputation. National, Olympic, World and Tour de France champions have all challenged themselves against the technical aspects, elevation and mountain environment of Mt. Werner and the surrounding Yampa Valley. Miles of trails at the Steamboat ski area, routes across town and hundreds more across Routt County await riders of all ability levels and ages. Get up, get out and get going this summer in Steamboat.

Steamboat Bike Shop (970-871-5348) is located in the Sheraton Steamboat Hotel. They have full-suspension DH mountain bikes from Kona & Specialized for rent and a full compliment of protective gear for rent as well. Lift tickets can also be purchased through Steamboat Bike Shop.

Steamboat Bike Park
The Steamboat Bike Park, featuring downhill, freeriding bike terrain brings new high intensity biking adventure to the mix of cross country mountain fun. The Park is totally new and different from what riders have seen or experienced at Steamboat. This summer, the freeride momentum continues as the resort completes two exciting trails including the expert trail, Rawhide, and beginner trail, Tenderfoot.  These trails join Sitz, Wrangler Gulch, E-Z Rider, Buckin’ Bronc and Rustler’s Ridge.

All the gravity trails showcase the dedicated work of legendary mountain bike trail developers, Gravity Logic, along with the Steamboat trail crew.  Riders can roll away downhill enjoying a number of features including jumps, step down rollers, wooden berm, wall ride, large dirt berm, bridges, wooden ladder step down, step up, rollers, a line of table-top dirt jumps and the challenges of the natural terrain built into the trials.

A Bike Access ticket is required to access the Steamboat Bike Park downhill trails, open during gondola operations, as well as utilize the Gondola for bike uplift.

Pump Track
The pump track, located in Ski Time Square just north of the base of the Steamboat Ski Area, is a great addition to the quick and easy riding options in town.  Newly redesigned this summer, the track is a great skill building tool and allow riders to cruise the entire course without pedaling, instead relying on “pumping” up and down the slopes and berms to take advantage of gravity. The track is free and open to the public and offers bank-filled fun for the entire family

Cross Country

With miles of cross-country bike trails, the resort will also focus attention and energy on constructing a new re-route for Zig Zag for uphill riders this summer. Enjoy Duster, Elkhead, Cathy’s Cut-Off, Sunshine Loop, Yoo Hoo, Zig Zag, Creekside, Moonlight, Pete’s Wicked Trail, Spur Run, Storm Peak Challenge, Valley View and Mountain View (USFS Trail 1032). No matter how you ride, the Steamboat Ski Area has a trail for you.
