Introduction

Literally rooted in the Allegheny mountains of West Virginia, Snowshoe Bike Park provides 40 lift-accessed mountain bike trails covering 250 acres and 1,500ft. of vertical descent. The bike park at Snowshoe features 2 high-speed quad lifts that quickly transport riders to the top. The mountain is organized into 2 major sections: The Basin Area is more natural, DH-tech with rocks, roots, and chunder. The Western Territory is more machine built, groomed, with berms and jumps. Along with Gravity Logic, the bike park trail crew recently uveiled their new flow-trail called "Skyline" with over 50 jumps! Snowshoe does not suffer from a lack of iconic terrain features. When the park is dry, some of the trails allow the rider to hit massive speeds. But, when it's wet, those challenging roots and rocks can become "slipperier than snot on a glass doorknob."

The Mountain Adventure Center at Snowshoe (304-572-5917) has got you covered with protective gear & bike rentals, bike school, and guiding services. Snowshoe bike park is participating in a Resort Swap Program (season pass) that provides riders 3-free lift days at 5 other bike parks in the U.S. ( Including: Trestle, Seven Springs, Angel Fire, Mtn Creek, and Wisp). Plus, every Sunday, women ride free!

Snowshoe is known for being far off the beaten path in a very rural area. However, they do have a good number of accommodation options and restaurants to choose from on the resort property. Charlottesville, VA, the closest city of significant size, is approximately 134 miles to the east. Driving is time consuming on winding mountainous roads. But, we think it's worth it!
