Introduction

Sunday River Bike Park is located in the southwest part of Maine (close to the border with New Hampshire). Bethel, ME is 7 miles south of the bike park, and Boston, MA is 175 miles to the southeast. Mountain bike riders are quickly uplifted to the top of the mountain via the "Chondola" lift. The bike park trail crew have been super-busy the last couple of years adding new trails and features with an emphasis on jumps, berms, flow, log, and ladder work. They have a pumptrack, bike school, and full suspension downhill rentals by Kona.

The bike park at Sunday River has a well-deserved reputation for all-natural, beefy, burly, DH tech-gnar style trails. This type of terrain is best suited for the intermediate-advanced rider. However, the jump lines and flow trails being added will appeal to the new-school air junkies as well. The mountain is a downhill lover's jungle gym, with 25 lift-served trails that span out over 20 miles. Do you need a full-on downhill rig to have fun on the trails at Sunday River? No, but your fun-factor will likely increase with a boost in suspension travel, wheelbase, and slackening of your bike's head angle.
